Students get a complete introduction to freshwater fishing by Vince Mack, the holder of the Clearlake lake record catfish (44 pounds 10 ounces). Students learn how to tie knots, cast, tour a fishing boat, learn valuable boat and land safety information. Students are even treated to a tasty fish snack! 1 1/2 hour class

Students learn about the anatomy of the eye as they complete a dissection of the Sheep Eye. They explore the retina, cornea, iris, tapetum Lucidum, optic nerve, vitreous humor, and more. The also participate in a “blind spot “demonstration.** 1 hour class

Students learn how to use a microscope as they examine living specimens of the organism responsible for more deaths than any other invertebrate on earth!** 1 hour class

My FAVORITE Lab! Students will view a short video to observe live squid movement and behavior. Then students will be introduced to basic dissection tools.Next students complete a squid dissection and explore basic squid anatomy: ink sac, lens of the eye, mantle, gonads and much more. ** 1 hour class

Students will view a short video about Owl behavior and the Owl digestive system. Next students will observe a poster showing the skeletal anatomy of variety of animals that owls eat. Finally, Students dissect an owl pellet and learn skeletal anatomy as they reconstruct a skeleton: identify what organisms the bones belong to, and learn about the Owl’s unique digestive system.** 1 1/2 hour class

Lab “Chicken Feet”: Students explore the functions of muscles and tendons as they dissect a chicken foot. The explore how muscles and tendons work in “antagonistic pairs”, and as an extension activity, will explore the muscles and tendons of the human hand.** 1 hour class

Students get once in a lifetime exposure to a collection of animal pelts: Bobcat, Coyote, Beaver, Raccoon, and Skunk. Next students will get to handle and learn the anatomy of the skulls of: Coyote, Beavers, Raccoon, and shrew .More advanced lessons involve exploring animal adaptations related to diet (carnivore, herbivore, omnivore) hearing, and sense of smell.** 1 hour 15 minutes class

Students observe and explore the anatomy of live or dead crayfish depending on the season . Students will compare the anatomy of Crayfish to other invertebrates and make recordings of length and mass like a field biologist.** 1 hour class
